The Feminist Workshop (11-15 December, 2013) is an international art and activist project, curated together with Liza Babenko (Ukraine). It will be held at the fridge & Hapsel - the major space dedicated to art and activism in Sofia, Bulgaria. The workshop is a platform for discussions, actions and socially engaged art, addressing women issues in capitalist Bulgaria. We hope this platform will show the necessity of organized action in our society towards visibility of women problems (both of the heterosexual and the LGBT community) and for defense of their rights, in solidarity with other genders.

Sofia Queer Forum 2012

POSter FIN 005

Sofia Queer Forum 2012 is an event that investigates, with the means of contemporary arts, gender and sexuality as parallel systems through which we value ourselves and the others around us. These systems have a strong influence on all aspects of culture and society. The influence is, of course, two-sided. This is why in focus here is also the changing of the concepts “gender” and “sexuality” depending on social, political, cultural and medical factors that are inherent in a given time and space.

Corpus Extremus (Life+)

anker

Corpus Extremus (LIFE+), the second exhibition of Exit Art’s Curatorial Incubator Program, will present work by artists who are using bio- and media- technologies to investigate questions of life and death. Representative of a relatively new international trend, these artists are uniting science and art to challenge conventional understanding of both fields.

Prior to the eighteenth century, art and science were not identified as distinct disciplines, and were often joined. Thus a hybrid bio-art discipline is nothing radically new. Yet, the work in Corpus Extremus (LIFE+) represents a revolution in interdisciplinary research and practices and offers a critical evaluation of science and technology through art. This direct involvement of artists in scientific research and lab practices aims to demystify science through a cross-disciplinary approach; provoke discussion about art and science as creative stimuli to each other; and pose ethical questions to society.
