“Apocalypse in China Town” is a reflection on the fashionable for the 2012 topic about the end of the world. The project can be illustrated by the following legend:
One day, unexpectedly, by reading the stars, the court astrologist predicted the death of the king. Prediction of this kind required confirmation, so the king asked another fashionable astrologist to make a second horoscope. The specialist said: “Yes, the prophecy is true, but the death can be avoided!”
The astrologist decided to remove the signs that signalled trouble. He replaced the real deadly stars and skies with artificial ones, which predict life and health. For that purpose a special hall was built, to which the king has been moved. His life was saved, but he remained locked in his shelter, where only these proper stars have “the right” to glow forever.
This installation is an exact model of a China Town street, inspired by the photograph “Apocalypse” by James Maher, made the winter of 2011, which depicts a street in New York City’s China Town.

The project is realized with the support of Art Project Depot, Bulgaria.
